Leslie Fisher

Leslie Fisher is both a journalist and a fine art photographer.  She was born on an army base in Georgia in 1980 and lived in Texas and Virginia before landing in Heidelberg, Germany during her high school years.  It was at Heidelberg High School that she developed an interest in both journalism and photography.  When Fisher started her senior year in New Jersey, she was enrolled in Photography 3, an advanced class where she learned to develop color prints and experimented with lighting techniques.  She also wrote for the school’s newspaper.

Fisher’s photographic eye really developed however, at Henderson State University, where she majored in Mass Media (with an emphasis in Journalism) and minored in Photography.  Having already learned the technical aspects of photography, Fisher was able to focus more on her subject matter.

Fisher’s appreciation for journalism is apparent in her photography.  While artistic in nature, her photographs capture moments in time.  With subjects ranging from people and musicians to old buildings and phone lines, she records fragments of every day life that have been called both beautiful and haunting.

Fisher specializes in black and white silver prints.  These images are all hand printed in her home darkroom.  Currently, Fisher lives in Hot Springs Arkansas, where she is a writer and photographer.
